CLUB RULES
PURLEY ON THAMES CRICKET CLUB (As of AGM 12th October 2004)
1. The Club shall be called PURLEY ON THAMES CRICKET CLUB and the colours of the club shall be Red and Navy or such other colours as the Committee shall decide.
2. The Officers of the Club shall consist of the President, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, The Hon. Secretary, The Hon. Treasurer, The Hon. Fixture Secretary and the Captains of each X1, who shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting together with any other member(s) of the Club as co-opted, including Junior representatives.
3. The management of the Club shall be vested in a Committee consisting of the Officers of the Club defined in 2 above).
The Committee shall have power to fill any vacancies which shall occur for whatever reason during the season and co-opt further members as required.
Selection of teams to represent the Club shall be made by a Selection Committee appointed by the Club Committee.
4. Membership of the Club shall be divided into the following classes:
(a) Full Playing Member - shall consist of those persons who have been elected to full membership by the Committee (as defined in 2 above).
(b) Honorary members shall be elected by the Committee and shall be eligible to serve on the General or Selection Committee and shall have the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting.
(c) Honorary Life members shall be elected by the Committee and shall be eligible to serve on the General or Selection Committee and shall have the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting.
(d) Playing member over 18 but not in full time employment.
(e) Playing member under 18 (Junior).
(f) Non Playing member
5. All Playing members shall be liable to pay (the relevant level) of Annual Subscription and Match Levy (if any) as fixed by the Annual General Meeting.
Any member not having paid the Annual Subscription to the Hon. Treasurer by the commencement of the season shall not be eligible for selection (or able to take any part in the running of the club) after that date unless all outstanding amounts due are paid in full.
Committee Guidance - New “regular” players (“regular” - being defined by the Committee, as having played 2 games) joining during the season are required to pay the relevant level of Annual Subscription, except, if they first join on or after the 1st. weekend in August when they will be liable to pay 1/3 of the relevant level of Annual Subscription.
Players must be fully “paid up” before they can be selected for any Club 1st XI.
Any member who fails to pay the appropriate Match Levy on the day of the match in which he/she has taken part for two consecutive appearances shall not be eligible for selection during the season until all outstanding dues have been paid.
All members of the Club should become members of the Purley Sports and Social Club.
6.The Committee shall have the power to expel any member for discreditable conduct or persistent breach of Club rules.
7.The financial year of the Club shall close on 30th. September and the Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held within two calendar months of that date. Not less than 14 days notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be given in writing to members by the Hon. Secretary. Such written notice shall specify the time and place of the meeting and append an Agenda of the business to be transacted.
8. At the Annual General Meeting of the Club the Committee shall submit a report on the activities of the Club for the year and the Hon. Treasurer shall present accounts for the year which shall have been subject to either an audit or examination by a member or members appointed by the Committee for that purpose
9. No motion affecting the Club rules may be brought forward at the Annual General Meeting of which written notice has not been received by the Hon. Secretary 14 clear days before the Annual General Meeting.
10. At any Annual General Meeting 12 members shall be a quorum.
11. All Officers and members of the Committee shall retire annually but will be eligible for re-election.
All elections shall be properly proposed and seconded and the decision shall be a majority vote.
Any member of the Club may nominate a person for election as an Officer of the Club or member of the Committee subject to having obtained that members agreement prior to nomination.
12. The Club may be wound up and cease to function upon a motion proposed and seconded in writing and passed by a majority of two-thirds of those members present at any meeting properly called for such purpose, notice of which has been given in writing at least 14 days before the date fixed for such meeting.
In the event of the Club being wound up, a final statement of accounts will be prepared and audited. If these accounts reveal a deficiency / (surplus) every member at the date of winding up and every person who ceased to be a member within a year preceding the date of winding up shall contribute / (receive) equally to clear the deficiency / (surplus).
Those members present at the meeting may by simple majority direct the Committee to dispose of Club assets as they shall decide.
13.The original of these rules and of any which hereafter be adopted shall be kept by the Hon. Secretary and each member elected to the Club shall be given a copy thereof.
14. No rule shall be altered or rescinded nor a fresh rule adopted without the consent of two-thirds majority of those voting at an Annual General Meeting.
The Club Committee shall be empowered to deal with any matter arising in connection with the Club not provided for in these rules.
Players, Officials, Members, Supporters and employees of the Club must adhere to the Club code of conduct which prohibits racially abusive comments and actions against fellow players, officials, supporters and employees (of this or any other Club). Failure to comply with this instruction/rule will result in disciplinary action being taken against the offender(s).
Membership shall be open to all, irrespective of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour, social status and sexual orientation.
The Club shall ensure a duty of care to all members of the Club by adopting and implementing the ECB "Safe Hands - Welfare of Young People in Cricket" Policy and any future versions of the Policy.
