Teams : Purley on Thames Cricket Club
Midweek
Captain :
Alan Schofield
Big Al - a driven man - still reeling from the lack of recognition for his Berkshire League performances in Div 3 in 2006 when he claims he should have won both the batting and bowling awards.
Successfully led his intrepid "band of brothers" in 2007 in the Berkshire League. Thames Valley here we come! (as long as I can get back for Sunday lunch).
Went for a call of nature during last years club AGM (again - 2 years running) - hence re-election to the lofty position of Saturday 1sts Captain.
Cold Lamb roast is his favourite meal.
Vice Captain :
Patrick Allen
Is that Patrick Allen or Ricky Ponting? Hard to tell the difference when they are batting!!! Unfortunately there are few similarities in the fielding, known to have dropped some Xtremely simple catches in his time.
Players
Chris Allen
NTL's best customer
Ricci Beccles
Bounce him, Bounce him Ricci!
Cyril Cox
AKA 'Secret', destroyer of many a middle order with his legendary 'wobble'. A great exponent of the dark arts of indoor cricket, despite having a dodgy shoulder.
Legendary consumer of shandy - 6 shandys do not equal 2 pints of beer - therefore its ok driving!
Lenny Dabreo
A more than useful 'all rounder' in the true sense of the word. Good medium pace bowler, well organised batter and unusually for Purley an excellent fielder.
Patrick Daniels
Big hitting right handed batsman and wicket keeper, very good at stopping leg side wides - which comes in extremely useful.
Kevin Denton
The BFG. Big Kev- master blaster of an off drive. More than useful off spinner.
Currently 'wasting' his talents in the first team.
Richard Forbes
Opening bowler and useful lower order batsman. Tapped up to play for Purley on Sundays and midweek through workmate Raj.
Lance Harris
Pacey opening bowler, made a big impact in his first year at the club. Claims to be of Irish decent, but does a very convincing impression of a South African. Resident number 11 he was allegedly once seen holding a bat.
Nick Holman
Known to most as Big 18 - The Purley 'Express' capable of reaching speeds of 60mph!!!
Scored an unbelievable 120 last season against Lower Earley, will be pushing for a higher spot in the batting line up for the new season.
David Lincoln
A promising opening bowler and middle order bat who made his debut for the Saturday Twos in 2007. A product of the 'youth' academy at Yattendon, he has a promising future just don't let him play on the swings again!
Rob Makepeace
Batting god! Unfortunately due to being a fireman his playing opportunities are limited
Errol Masters
Tall Jamaican off spinner, has a 'mystery' ball in his armoury (its a mystery how he has got away with his bowling for years!). Main man in all Purley deals with Trinidad and Tobago.
Caleb Maycock
Top quality fast bowler. Capable of bowling a serious pace from the shortest of run ups. Also a very useful batsman, unorthodox in his methods but highly effective. DO NOT drop a catch off his bowling.
James Measham
AKA 'Mini Meash', a talented all rounder, steady middle order bat and a dangerous medium pace bowler. That being, a danger to the batsman and occassionally second slip, especially after an all nighter in Bournemouth or a night out in Bar Risa !!
Mark Nash
The original Lard! This picture was taken at Maidenhead and Bray this season.
Paul Reber
The Tank! Famed for his dab - late cut for 4. Former Berkshire wicket keeper. Leading century maker in Purley club history.
Daniel Ret
Currently under house arrest, please help Amnesty International secure his release by writing to the Spanish ambassador in London.
Jalil Sear
Savage of a batsman. Net practice becomes very hazardous when Jalil is batting. Also a very useful bowler capable of bowling a decent pace from a slingy action.
Raj Senniappan
Attacking middle order batsman, more than useful bowler and a very reluctant wicket keeper (he has very delicate hands).
One half of the Chennai Chuckle Brothers - to me to you to me to you
Farrukh Sultan
The only Purley player to have his profile on Cricinfo
