Match report Purley travelled to Aldershot and with that brings the problem of people being late! 7 players for the first 2 overs was not what I wanted in the field. We started poorly with the Aldershot openers taking the attack to us. We even suffered physical pain with Reber taking a blow on the head after attempting to stop the ball on the boundary! We got into the game with some good controlled bowling from Raj and Caleb followed by spin twins Nasher and the captain. With the rate slowing we also managed to pick up wickets as well, the reintroduction of Nick Holman and his slower balls (5 wickets all with slower deliveries) saw Aldershot all out for 201 from 51 overs. A great effort considering the start.
Aldershot took the old ball on a wearing wicket and despite a good first over of 10 Purley were soon in trouble at 19 for 2. The young but experienced pair of Reber and Allen then steadied the ship and scored well off the overseas star Sinha and the other seamers. From 110 for 2 it soon became 150 for 6, this led to Dogger Barclay coming to the crease. Dogger and Allen played sensibly and took the Purley ship closer to the finish line, Allen was eventually out for 120 with 1 run required leaving Caleb to strike a trademark 4 to seal victory.
Great win for the Potters, lets keep it going next week!
