Match report The Potters got their 2012 TVL Division 3A season off to a great start. On a suprisingly sunny day for May, the skipper lost the toss and the Potters were inserted on a slightly damp wicket.
The Potters started slowly but solidly with the skipper and Cloughy putting on 50 for the 1st wicket. A small collapse then happened but Dan held firm to top score with 40 valuable runs. Small contributions from everyone was vital in setting a testing 145 target.
A nice tea was had by all and then the Gerrards Cross reply commenced. Good bowling from Nick and Caleb kept the opening batsman down to a very slow scoring rate. Then Caleb picked up 2 quick wickets. The skipper introduced himself to the attack following Calebs excellent spell. Mysteriously to everyone the Potters skipper managed to pick up a 5 wicket haul (his first in league cricket) - good bowling from Nick, Caleb, Cyril and Cloughy all led to a excellent opening day victory with Nick picking up the match winning wicket with 5 balls to go.
Great start for the team, same again next week!!!
