Match report The Potters faced Hayes on a typically windy day at the Goosecroft. The hayes skipper won the toss and chose to bat on a excellent looking track.
Hayes got off to a flyer with Green striking the ball sweetly. It looked like the Potters were going to be spending alot of time chasing the ball as the opening partenership went past 100 inside 15 overs. The introduction of spin eventually brought the breakthrough with the skipper and the returning Nasher bringing some much needed control. Some good fielding helped stem the run rate alongwith regular wickets - Hayes endiing 212 all out from 47.5 overs. Skipper Allen taking 3 for 47, Robbie 2 for 21, Nick 2 for 32 and good bowling from Nash 1 for 23 from 7 overs.
212 was a very reachable target on this track and things started well with Amit hitting some crisp boundaries. When Hayes took the new ball things suddenly changed, the Potters quickly fell to 43 for 4. Some resistance from Rackers and Reebs helped but Rackers then fell for 13. 15 year old Robbie Jeffrey came in at 7 and was looking confident. Reebs and Robbie J put on 62 for the 5th wicket, Reebs fell for 46 - excellent contribution on his return from a fractured finger. The Potters were in a position to kick on but unfortunately more quick wickets fell. Nasher came in at number 11 with the Potters needing 50 runs from 9 overs. Robbie J and Nasher accumalated well and struck boundaries when needed. With 8 needed from 12 balls, Robbie J hit a 4 followed by a huge 6 to win the game, he ended 76 not out - for a 15 year old this was a unbelievably mature and powerful innings. An unbelievable 53 run partnership for the 10th wicket (Nasher 20 not out).
Great fightback and great 20 points. Very stressful but very enjoyable!
