Match report Well done to the boys for the third win in a row this season BUT lots of improvement needed in the bowling and fielding if we are to play to our abilities and enjoy a successful season. George Clarke won the toss and chose to bat. Max (50no retired) and Rob Haggis put on 23 before Rob was harshly given out lbw. Max and James D (11) put on a good 50 partnership. James M was given out caught behind and said he didn't touch it?? Rob Clarke came to the crease and hit two quick 4's and a 6 before being stumped for 14. George Clarke (9), Thomas Axson (5) and Jack E (2no) took the score to 121-6 off 20 overs. A tough score for them to chase and whilst they were always well behind the run rate our bowling and fielding gave them a chance. We gave away 37 extras, of which 15 were no balls and 10 wides. This was a mixture of poor bowling and poor backing up fielding, twice the ball hit the boundary on over throws. The skipper was the pick of the bowlers with 4-1-11-2. West Ilsley were an Under 13 side apart from one player, so we need to make massive improvements in the field for future games, as we will come up against stronger teams that will punish us. The positive is that we won, and remain unbeaten, so I don't want to be too harsh on the boys. I just want them to know that they cannot be complacent, and must continue to try and improve their game in each match.
