Match report Our first defeat of the season in the quarter final of the Cup against a strong Thatcham side. Thatcham won the toss and put us into bat on a tricky wicket. Max batted superbly for his 32, and was well supported by James Denton (16), but runs were hard to come by, and we ended on 78-5 off 20 overs. We felt that was 25-30 runs short, and so it proved. A very good opening spell from Max and Thomas Axson put some pressure on them but we could not get a breakthrough. James Denton came on and bowled a two wicket maiden with two good catches from James M and George Clarke. However, his third over was expensive and swung the tie back their way, and they ended the game comfortably in the 18th over for the loss of 4 wickets. Both sides fielding was exceptional on the evening, but we didn't get enough runs. A disappointing defeat but we can concentrate on the league now.
