Match report The Potters entertained table topping Stoke Green on another hot day at the Goosecroft.
The skipper won the toss and decided to bowl first, aiming to make it 4 wins in a row from chasing. The wicket looked dry and hard and with the outfield as dry as a bone there was potential for a high scoring contest.
The Potters bowled well throughout the Stoke Green innings with everyone keeping a disciplined line and length. We continued to take wickets throughout the innings and never let Stoke Green establish any telling partnerships. In the end Stoke Green were bowled out in 49.1 overs for a score of 181.
In reply the Potters were faced with the challenge of the old ball. On a dry and now dusty looking track the challenge of facing a quality spinner on this track was never going to be easy. The reply started very solid, with Patrick and Amit putting on 54 for the 1st wicket. Unfortunately once the 1st wicket fell this seem to open up the floodgates for the rest to follow! The Potters were bowled out for 118 in 37 overs with Stoke Greens left arm spinner S.Aziz taking 8 for 56 from 19 overs. The only Potters player to show any sort of form was the skipper who made 58.
A very dissappointing result considering how well we bowled, fielded and started the batting. From going from 54 for 0 to 118 all out is not acceptable. We need to look at some of the shots we are playing and think about putting more value on our wickets.
