Match report The Potters travelled to Hurst in a match that saw the 2 teams level on points at the start of the day.
Hurst won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat but very dry looking track. The Potters bowled with good discipline throughout and backed up by some sharp fielding and good catching we put in a good display. Hurst were restricted to 190 for 9 from their 52 overs, Cyril was chief wicket taker with 4 wickets.
After a lovely tea including scones with cream and strawberries the Potters set about chasing down the challenging target. Hurst took the old ball and from the 1st over it looked a tricky chase as the off spinner Higgs was causing problems. Once the openers Patrick and Kev settled runs began to flow with the 6th and 8th over going for 20 and 18 runs respectively. With the score from 10 overs being 61 for 0 the chase looked very achievable, unfortunatyely things went steadily downhill from thereon. The skipper top scored with 56 and Reebs was the only other notable scorer finishing unbeaten on 31. We ended up playing out for a draw at 150 for 8 from our 48 overs.
Not a good effort at chasing the target considering what a small ground Hurst is especially when we were 61 for 0 after 10 overs! To only get 89 runs from 38 overs is pretty unexceptable but at the moment runs are not flowing from all areas of the team. We have 4 games left this season and need to do much better in those games.
