Match report On a bitterly cold and windy day the Purley skipper won the toss and elected to bat, the decision seemed justified as the Purley openers Pete Rackley and George Wheeler put on 47 runs off 7 overs before George Wheeler top-edged a rising delivery to be caught behind by Jason Doole. Andrew Devlin came in next on debut and after the initial rustiness found runs easier to come by but he was bowled for 24 with the score on 92. Andrew Clarke and Pete Rackley put on 31 for the fourth wicket before Andrew was bowled by a peach of a delivery for 20, Jack Mundell hit some lusty blows in the middle order but was run out for 17 trying to push the score along. Pete was finally caught for 59 after batting for 37 overs. A good last over from Bill Macdonald where he claimed three wickets saw Purley restricted to 164 for 8 off 40 overs. After the tea interval, in which time the weather became unbelievably colder Jason Doole and Shiva started slowly and were just looking to accelerate when Shiva was brilliantly run out by Andrew Clarke for 16 with the score on 38. Another debutant, Clive Kent bowled well and claimed the next two wickets as he had Babu caught at square leg by Andrew Devlin for 1 and then James Benson LBW for 11. Youngsters, George Clarke and Sam Woodhouse bowled spin in tandem and were both rewarded with wickets with Sam taking the all important wicket of skipper, Jason Doole for an excellent 70. Sulhamstead fell 32 runs short on 132 for 5 off 40 overs. Two wins out of two for the Potters.
