Match report Purley on Thames Under 13s travelled the short distance to Theale & Tilehurst for their first round cup match. The Purley skipper, Luke Fifield won the toss and elected to field and his decision was vindicated as some brilliant, tight bowling from Sam Poulter and Sam Jugg saw T&T slip to 12/2 but it was a devastating spell by Owen Guest with figures of 4 for 7 off 4 overs that ripped the middle order out. Austyn Jackson bowled tightly and was unlucky only to get one wicket. Luke and Daniel Airey finished off the overs to leave Theale & Tilehurst on 57 for 9 off 20 overs. In reply Purley on Thames got off to a steady start and had reached 6 for 0 off 4 overs when Luke Fifield was bowled by one that kept low. Sam Poulter was batting well but a pull to square leg was brilliantly caught and he was out for 7. Kyle Swire-Thompson hit three fours as he quickly boosted the run rate before he was bowled for 14. Kienan Andrews and Daniel Airey saw Purley home with seven wickets and 7 overs to spare. Well done lads, more of the same
