Match report The final match report of the season and I couldn't be happier writing it. The win last week guaranteed the title but the lads still played fantastic and records were broken in this last game. The skipper lost the toss and we were put in. Crown Wood had a very young side and bowled well early on. However, once Kevin Denton and Rob Clarke got going they plundered the bowling. Kevin reached his 50 first and then Rob soon followed. Kevin then raced to his 100 off 32 more balls. 16 year old Rob Clarke then superbly reached his maiden 100 off 72 balls. The boys then set their sights on the Purley and division 4 opening partnership record of 273. They passed it and reached 279 before Kevin edged behind for a magnificent 143. Rob soon followed in the same manner for a fantastic 122. The skipper then declared on 307-3 after 38 overs. We took the field and Harry (1-21) and Rob H (1-20) bowled well without a lot of luck to restrict them to 42-2 after 14 overs. Nufail (2-15) and Khan (4-32) then bowled superbly to leave them 90-8. Hardy then hit some lusty blows and put on a 50 9th wicket partnership. It was broken when 15 year old James Mugford bowled him for a good 54, claiming his first wicket in adult cricket. James then claimed his 2nd and their final wicket, bowling Hawkes with the score on 148. We had won by a massive 159 runs, and claimed another maximum 35 points. A great end to a fantastic season. The skipper and Kevin them cracked open the champers to start the celebrations, which continued with most of the team having a celebratory drink back at the club. Champions!!!
