Match report In another thrilling cup-tie we lost this one in the final over to a much stronger West Ilsley team than we played on Sunday in the league. We lost the toss and they put us into bat. Skipper Max Baker-Smith holed out for 5 in the second over. Vice-captain James Denton (18) was looking good before he played on to a ball thta kept low. We then struggled for runs and only Jameel Khan (10) and Mark Russell (6) were able to support Ollie Pluck, who hit his highest ever score of 27not out. We reached a respectable 91-9 off 20 overs. Their two openers got off to a flyer with some good shots and quick running. They reached 36 in the 7th over before we got the breakthrough with an excellent run out off his own bowling from Tom Wheeler. Tom (1-8 off 4 overs), James Denton (1-13 off 4 overs) and Jameel Khan (0-8 off 2 overs) put the squeeze on them and they were 68-3 off 17 overs. They needed 24 off the last 3 overs but their opener was still in and he made us pay from dropping him earlier by finishing 51no and hitting the winning shot with a 6 off the second ball of the last over. A very good game in which we were probably 20 runs short. We now have to concentrate on the league, and look forward to the next game at home to Thatcham.
