Match report Purley started their Midweek campaign with a very good win over Thames Valley Division 3 side Newbury. Up for grabs was a tie against Thatcham in the semi final of the Lakeside Trophy.

Skipper Patrick Allen chose to bat first on a softish wicket; this decision backfired early on as Purley were reduced to 13 for 3 with not 4 overs gone. Purley regained some hold in the game through three reasonable partnerships, the main one being between James Frost and Patrick Allen. Purley were bowled out in 14 overs for a score of 110 with excellent bowling from Charlie Anstey (4-0-17-5), the main contributor for Purley was from skipper Patrick Allen who was eventually out stumped after hitting 8 fours and 1 six in his 62 runs.

Purley set about defending a below par score in great style, opening bowlers Caleb Maycock and Richard Forbes both took 2 wickets in 3 over spells. Then fine back up bowling from Lennie Dabreo and James Frost closed out the game. Frost picking up his first 5 wicket haul for Purley with an excellent spell of bowling. Purley fielded excellently throughout, the highlight being Raj Senniappans running catch at mid-off.
