Match report Purley 1st XI hosted Finchampstead 3rd XI on Saturday. After losing the toss Purley were asked to bowl first on an excellent looking track. The potters showed excellent discipline throughout the Finch innings and all the bowlers found a great level of consistency and were well backed up by all the lads in the field. Patrick Allen was the pick of the bowlers with an excellent spell and figures of 4-33 as Purley restricted Finch to 156-8 from their 52 overs. The second innings run chase started badly and didn't get much better after that, some inexcusable decision making from the top order saw us throwing our wickets away to easily. A decent partnership between Rahu Thava (36) and Paul Reber (23) put Purley in contention before the rest of the innings collapsed as we were all out for 104. We made life too easy for the opposition in the 2nd innings of the game and must learn quickly from our mistakes, starting next week against Cove.
