Match report Purley on Thames 1st XI travelled to Cove 2's for this weeks Thames Valley Division 3A fixture. Skipper Paul Reber lost the toss and was relieved when the potters were asked to bat first on an excellent looking track. Patrick Allen got the innings off to a steady start and looked good for his 25 before being caught at point. A couple more quick wickets left Purley in trouble at 50-4. Paul Reber and Richard Sandford then set about rebuilding the innings with an excellent partnership of 143. Sandford had a super debut for the club and made a classy 62. Reber completed his century in the 51st over and then declared the innings finishing 107 not out as the potters posted an excellent score of 242-8. Cove began the run chase well and the potters found it difficult to take regular wickets on a very good batting track. Reber (3-41), Rees (2-42), Allen and Jeffery all showed excellent discipline to ensure that Cove finished short of our total. Cove ended with 203-7, a good effort from the lads and 13 points from a winning draw.
