Match report The 2nd round Berkshire County Under 13 Cup tie was played at Purley in fine conditions and resulted in an excellent win for the home side.

Purley skipper, Ashley Hillier, won the toss and inserted the visitors to bat first.

Good Purley bowling resulted in 2 wickets in Robbie Jeffrey's first over to have Henley in early difficulties at 6 for 2 wickets after 2 overs. Robbie and Harry Bell continued to tie Henley down with an aggressive opening bowling spell of 6 overs which resultred in 3 wickets for just 19 runs.

The rest of the Purley bowlers continued to apply pressure that made scoring difficult, keen fielding backed up the bowlers and Henley were restricted to 72 for 5 in their 20 overs. Hopkins was the pick of the Henley batting with a well made 30 (retired).

In reply, Purley started steadily but lost Josh Howell in the 6th over with the score on 13. Conner Farmery and James McGiveron then batted sensibly for 9 overs taking the score to 61 before James was well caught on the boundary by A.Hayden for 28 in the 16th over. A fantastic catch by Smith accounted for Robbie Jeffrey before it was left to Conner and Andrew Clarke to see Purley home in the 18th over.

A very good win against a strong Henley bowling attack.
