Peppard v Purley on Thames CC Winter Indoor League team on Sun 08 Oct 2006 at 19:00
Purley on Thames CC Won 3 Wickets
Match report
Purley 'A' played last seasons champions Peppard in the the second game of the evening, Purley skipper Patrick Allen chose to field after winning the toss encouraged by the display in the previous game.
Peppard started well though regularly placing the ball in the gap to pick up 3 runs, the breakthrough was made by Jalil Sear with Patrick Allen taking the catch off the wall. Some very tight bowling followed from Rob Makepeace and Patrick Allen, redeeming himself with 3 overs for 17 runs. Peppards innings lost it's direction and they found themselves 5 wickets down with 70 on the board, a late rally from Peppard skipper Jason Lunnon saw their total up to 92 off their alloted 12 overs.
This total never seemed enough especially after some big hitting from openers Denton and Makepeace, the 50 coming up in the 5th over. Denton was then soon dismissed adjudged LBW just before reaching his 25, this then led to a minor collapse, after Rob Makepeace had retired with another 25 some thoughtless running from Patrick Allen and Raj Senniappan gave Peppard a chance of stealing victory. Daniel Ret and Jalil Sear settled with finding the side walls as well as the odd 3, in the end safely guiding Purley home by 3 wickets in the 9th over.
