Purley on Thames CC - Girls

Girls Cricket
Girls' cricket

Girls' cricket at Purley on Thames was launched in April 2018, and has gone from strength to strength. We now have girls and women playing for Purley on Thames CC from 7 years old through to our newly formed women's team. We are both pleased and proud of the progress that all our teams and girls have made individually over the years.

We welcome many younger girls enjoying cricket from All Stars and U9s through to our current match teams of U11s (school years 5&6), U13s (years 7&8) and our women's team for girls 14+.

We are keen to expand our numbers so
that we can give more girls the opportunity to play. Girls between school years 5 and 9 are welcome to come along to our sessions: no previous experience or equipment is needed - just a willingness to get involved and have fun.

Training and coaching

In the summer, training takes place on Friday evenings at the Goosecroft from 6.30 to 8pm from April through to the end of August led by our enthusiastic girls' coaching team including an ECB level 2 qualified coach.

Enjoyment and fun

The continued growth of our club is a reflection of the enjoyment and fun the girls have playing for Purley on Thames. Opportunities are offered to girls who want to progress to County level through to those who simply want to play for have fun in a friendly, enthusiastic and warm atmosphere. We encourage all our girls to set their own goals to achieve their individual successes, in doing this, each training session is encouraging, positive and rewarding. We are fervent believers in the ethos of #thisgirlcan.

We encourage and believe, that every girl who wants to play and compete in matches should get the opportunity to do so.

With a great team spirit at Purley on Thames: we believe girls that 'Train together, Play together’ so we enjoy team-building activities such as Red Kangaroo and trips to Lord's to be inspired by the England Women's team.

Leagues

Our Under 11s play in the Berkshire Super 6s Cricket League attending several Sunday Festivals to play their league fixtures - typically playing 3 matches over about a 3 hour festival of soft ball cricket. Our U13s play in both the Challenge league (16 overs, softball) and in the Blast league (20 overs, hardball).
