Come and join us
Purley on Thames CC want you to come and JOIN US! We are looking for new members of all ages and abilities, both playing and non-playing.
We are based in Goosecroft Lane in the village of Purley on Thames, a 10-minute drive from central Reading and a 2-minute drive from either Pangbourne or Tilehurst railway stations.
The Goosecroft is also home to the Purley Sports and Social Club (PSSC), during match days and training, members and their family and friends can enjoy freshly cooked food and drinks from the well-stocked bar.
The cricket club have an active social calendar. In collaboration with PSSC we will run our annual Fish & Chip Supper and Quiz in April and monthly BBQ's throughout the season.
Adult teams
On the field we run three Adult teams on a Saturday. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs all play in the Thames Valley League, in Levels 2, 5 and 8 respectively (3rd XI games are played at Yattendon CC).
The club runs a social Sunday team playing friendly fixtures against local opposition.
Our Midweek team play in Division 2 South of the Serious Cricket Downs League, matches will be played on Wednesday evenings, starting at 6pm in a 20-over format. The home team will provide post-match food.
Women's cricket
Our women's "Eagles" play soft ball cricket in the Berkshire Cricket Women's Soft Ball League Division 2.
In 2026, we will launch our Women's XI who will be playing hardball cricket in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Women's Cricket League. We welcome new and experienced players to join us for either soft ball or hardball women's cricket.
Junior and girls' cricket
We have a thriving junior section with junior teams (mixed) from under 9 up to under 15.
Additionally, we have a vibrant girls section with teams (under 11, 13, 15) playing regularly in the Berkshire Youth Cricket League. New for 2026, we will have our first under 9s girls team playing in the Super 6s Festivals.
We also offer All Stars for children aged 5 to 8. Registration opens in March. FULLY BOOKED FOR 2026.

We also welcome applications for both social membership and from anyone who would like to get involved in any of the volunteer roles that we have (umpiring, scoring, ground preparation etc).
Members of Purley on Thames CC are welcome at Purley Sports and Social Club, whose facilities are available throughout the whole year.
