Caversham & Redingsians v Purley on Thames CC Winter Indoor League team on Sun 19 Nov 2006 at 20:00
Purley on Thames CC Lost 4 wickets
Match report
Purley 'A' suffered there first defeat of indoor league season, losing by 4 wickets to Caversham & Redingsians. Purley won the toss and elected to bat first. Farrukh Sultan went early caught looking for a six, then a period of poor batting saw Purley crawling along at 5 runs an over in the 5th over. Jalil Sear and Patrick Allen then came in and helped increase the run rate, both finishing with 33. Raj Senniappan scored a good 20 not out leaving Purley on a very average 118 for 5 off their 12 overs.
The Caversham innings started badly with some awful fielding gifting the batting team easy runs. There were 3 dropped catches and a number of misses on the back wall. Caversham batted solidly and coasted home in the 11th over.
A big improvement is needed for the next set of games seeing the two Purley teams meet for the first time at Bradfield as well as Knowl Hill.
