Dear All,
Please find below a letter and communication sent on the behalf of Rob Bartlett of the Thames Valley Cricket League (TVL) Umpires Sub-Committee. This letter is also on the TVL website.
Please pass this onto your colleagues if you are not the correct person to action this.
===========================================
Dear TVL club chairman/league reps/captains,
At the recent TVL AGM the committee announced that the TVL would pay for each club to send one representative
to attend forthcoming stage 1 and 2 umpire courses, FREE of charge.
This strategy is due to a declining numbers of umpires which will affect the quality of all our games.
As you may also know there have been 83 law changes that will take effect from the 2018 season.
Berkshire Cricket Officials Association are running the new stage 1 umpire course (just 1 day) at Henley CC on Sunday 4th March 9.30am start.
This course is designed to provide an overview of the basic laws and how to apply them when officiating.
It will also give attendees the confidence to stand in matches where there are no panel appointed umpires.
There are no restrictions on age and there are no exams at the end of the courses.
For those who wish to continue to the stage 2 (This is 2 days) also being run at Henley CC on Sunday 18th and 25th March.
Umpires come from clubs and at present less than half of TVL clubs supply regular umpires to the league.
So please make every effort to find a member of your club to attend this course to improve our matches and the game.
Please email Gail Bonnell gail.bonnell@berkscoa.co.uk to book your FREE place with the name and details of your TVL funded nominee and the details of anyone else from your club who would like to attend.
