Purley on Thames CC Under 11s v Maidenhead & Bray on Mon 10 Aug 2009 at 6pm
Purley on Thames CC Won By 8 runs
Match report
Quarter Final game and the pressure was on, but the 11 boys did myself and Purley Cricket Club proud by winning by 8 runs. In a tense game (in rain and darkness) we lost the toss and were put in. Superb contributions from Robert Goodwin (28no) and Connor Wheeler (25no), and a quick 13 from Jack Ellison gave us 113-7. They stormed away at the start and were 29-0 off 3 overs. However, some tight bowling from Callum Pearse (2 for 16), Robert Goodwin (2 for 10) and James Mugford (1 for 11 including the only maiden of the game) meant they needed 14 off the last over. Tom Chapman bowled the last over and it produced 2 run outs and only 5 runs, giving us a fantastic result and a place in the semi-finals. The season continues..............
