Purley on Thames CC Lost by 2 wickets
Match report
Semi-Final game. We had a few regulars unable to play but could still field a strong 11, especially with Mark Russell flying back midway through his holiday in Jersey, and then flying back after the game. What fantastic commitment, his parents deserve a massive thank you! We won the toss and unfortunately nerves seemed to get the better of us, and produced our worst batting performance of the season in making 63 all out. Only Mark showed any resistance with 15 runs. Cookham raced to 60-3 before James Mugford came on and produced a 4-wicket maiden to make the home side a little edgy. We then produced 24 dot balls and took another wicket to make them even edgier, before they finally got the winning runs. A valiant effort, and if only we had scored another 20 runs.... ifs and buts and maybe's! A disappointing end to a fantastic season and one that the under 11's can be extremely proud of.
