Match report What a game!! Our first league defeat of the season but the boys of both teams served up a very exciting game for a really large crowd that had gathered on a gorgeous sunny evening. We won the toss and again elected to bat first. We batted very sensibly to post a good score of 132-3, with useful contributions from James Denton(15), Connor Wheeler(28), and a quick fire 30 not out from Max Baker-Smith, which included two 6's. Robert Clarke finished the scoring with a good 25 not out. In the field we bowled poorly at the start, giving away too many wides and no balls, and through poor field placings and the ball dropping between fielders Bradfield were always ahead of the run rate. However, James Denton (4 overs for 14) and Robert Clarke (3-0-15-2) bowled the last 6 overs very well and began to peg them back. They needed 4 off the last over bowled by James Denton. He bowled nice and straight and it came down to the last ball where they needed 1 to draw and 2 to win. The ball was played behind and they ran to scramble the 1 for the draw but unfortunately our fielder in trying to attempt a run out threw the ball too hard and it went for an overthrow, allowing them to run the second and win the game by 1 run!! I was gutted for the boys who had fought back really well but hopefully a lesson learnt which will benefit them in future games. It's great that we have our next game in 3 days time to get back on the winning track.
