Match report Another excellent win for us against a team previously unbeaten. Robert Clarke lost the toss and we had to field first for the first time in the league this year. Harry Morgan was playing his first game behind the stumps and did really well. The bowling and fielding were good against a team with some very clean hitters. An excellent direct hit from Rob Haggis ran out one of their good batsmen, and James Denton held a good catch to dismiss their opening batsmen for the first time this season other than a run out. We got him out for 8 when he is averaging over 100 so a great effort from us. The final ball of the innings was smashed away for 6 off a good length delivery to show how strong their batting was. We then applied ourselves very well with another solid base set by openers James Denton (16) and Connor Wheeler (19). We were just behind the required run rate at halfway but then a big over taking our score from 65 to 85 changed the game. Robert Haggis hit his usual quick-fire 30no retired, and Robert Clarke played well for his 20. Max Baker-Smith then came in and hit 21 not out before James Mugford (5 not out) hit a four off the 8th to last delivery with only 2 needed to seal the win. A great 7 wicket win against a good team, and we are now looking good for the quarter finals! Well done boys, a great team performance.
