Match report The final game of the first half of the TVL season was upon us with the visit of local rivals Theale and Tilehurst.
On a belting wicket the skipper luckily won the toss and batted. We got off to a flyer with Pat and James scoring freely. We scored fluently throughout the innings and all the batsman made good contributions, Pat 66, James 43, Alan 57, Reebs 70* and Lemar 16*. We declared the innings after 51 overs with an imposing 269 for 3.
We decided to start with the old ball in the 2nd innings and it proved a decent decision with the skipper cleaning up the dangerous Kumar early on. The wicket was still playing well and Theale started to look dangerous. Impressive bowling from Nick pegged Theale back before Big Al ran out the Theale skipper Wigmore for 49. A quick succession of wickets then followed including a spectacular catch by Lemar at square leg. At the end of the game we could only manage to take 8 scalps with us, a very good effort on a excellent wicket.
At the half way point of the season we are still unbeaten and are 13 points clear at the top of the division. We need to kick on in the 2nd half of the season and keep picking up victories to ensure we stay at the top. Keep up the good work!!!
