Match report Purley 2nds battled hard to hold on for a draw at Marlow with Steve Purser batting at number 11 with a dislocated finger joining Cyril Cox to bat out the final overs.Everything went wrong for Purley after skipper Peter Rackley won the toss and decided to field which proved to be wrong decision on a pitch that did nothing to help the hard working Purley bowlers.Opening bowlers Jordan Seward and Andrew Bailey bowled tightly,fustrating the batsman,but the introduction of Vikram Kamath (2)and Robbie Jeffery (1)brought Purley 3 quick wickets.That's when things started to go wrong in the field,allrounder Andrew Bailey pulled his hamstring and soon after Steve Purser dislocated his finger
going for a catch at point.With Steve visiting Wycombe hospital luckly the ever eager Mark Mundel was on hand to appear as a sub fielder,still leaving Purley withjust 10 fielders for the last 20 overs.Marlow declared after 49 0vers on 273
for 5,leaving the 9 fit batsman of Purley a mamouth task.The reply started well
with Gautham Kamath and Peter Rackley putting on 61 for the 1st wicket before Gautham succumbed pulling to mid wicket.Two other quick wickets fell before youngster Robbie Jeffery joined skipper Rackley to bat out another 10 overs,robbie went for (10)and Rackley was finally out in the 37th over for a hard fought (52).Jack Mundel scored a fine (20),Andrew Bailey batted with a runner for his (11) runs and after bowlers Vikram Kamath and Jordan Seward departed it was left to veteran Cyril Cox and one handed Steve Purser to earn the draw.
