Match report Purley 2nds gained a vital win at fellow strugglers Kidmore End on what could be described as a poor wicket.Purley had Khan Azad and influential midweek captain Gary Brooker making their 2nd team debuts as the summer holidays affected selection for all 3 teams this week.Kidmore End won the toss and decided to bat and never really got going due to a brillant display of bowling and fielding from Purley.14 year old Robbie Jeffery took a wicket in his 1st over and then went on to complete his first 5 wicket haul in adult cricket with
excelent display.Dave Linclon bowled 2 tight spells for his 3 wickets,backed up superbly by Cyril Cox (1 wicket) and Khan Azad who bowled well on his debut,with Raj finishing the innings of.The bowlers were backed up brillantly in the field,especially the Purser double act of dad Steve and Jack who were
outstanding.Purley started their reply with a new opening partner for skipper Peter Rackley,Khan Azad,who batted positively on a difficult surface.The pairing put on 64 for the 1st wicket before Rackley fell for 23,Raj Senniappen joined Khan to put on another 40 for the 2nd wicket before Khan fell for 38.
Despite losing 2 more wickets Raj saw the 2nds home with a fine 41 not out to secure a vitally important win.
