Match report 1st game as captain of Saturday 3rds and we got off to an excellent start with a good 3 wicket win. It started well as I won the toss and as the pitch was very damp and spongy put them in. Some excellent bowling and fielding reduced them to 144-8, although at one stage it looked like they would get around 120 max, so a little disappointing. Highlight was a fantastic direct hit run-out from Jack Mundell. Lowlight was I pulled a hamstring and was going to need a runner if I had to bat, but confident the lads did not need me?? However, we started poorly and were 18-4 until a quick 20 from Andrew Clarke and a 6th wicket partnership between Kirwan (44no) and Khan (41) helped us to get close to their score. Good support from Callum Wood (11), and the last 8 runs hit by Harry Bell with two fours gave us a great win. Kirwan remained unbeaten on 44 and was an excellent steadying knock that certainly ensured our win. Great start lads, let's keep it going for the rest of the season.
