Match report Our first defeat of the season against a strong Knowl Hill side, but once again it was a closely contested game that went to the final over. I lost the toss and they put us in to bat. Steve(11) and young Kieran Barrett got us off to a start but then 3 quick wickets fell leaving us 28-3. The experienced Barry Hall (12) and young Kieran put us back on track until Kieran's classy knock came to an end for 36. Young Andrew Clarke then came in hit a very good 34. Patrick Daniels then hit a very good 48no and Jeff Hinds(20) hit some big shots to get us to a respectable 179-7. We then struggled to get a breakthrough and were missing a strike bowler. However the bowling was accurate and tight, with Callum Wood producing a great spell of 1-11 off his 7 overs. They got to 147-4 before Kieran and Harry struck with 3 quick wickets. They needed 22 off the last 3 overs but unfortunately we conceded 14 off the 43rd over and they finished the game off the first ball of the final over. A good performance in the end, showing really good fighting spirit and encourages me to be optimistic of our chances of having a good season.
