Match report A match we should have won, but I'll settle for 25 points in a winning draw. I won the toss and chose to bat. Khan got us off to a flying start and was ably supported by Kieran(12) and Pahi(21), before he was given out LBW for 80 off 74 balls, with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Kirwin steadied the innings and a 58 run partnership between Kirwin and myself(37) took us to 189 in the 41st over. Callum(15no) and Kirwin(33no) then took us to 216-5 from our 45 overs. Khan took the new ball and got a wicket in his 1st over, and then we ran out the number 3 batsman in the 2nd over to leave them on 5-2. A good partnership of 53 in quick time gave then some impetus. However, Khan then worked his magic and took the next 6 wickets to leave them on 76-8 in the 17th over. We then had 28 overs to take 2 wickets, but as much as we tried their two batsmen just blocked everything. They only scored 59 runs in those 28 overs, and didn't give us any opportunities apart from one or two close lbw shouts. Khan took 7-38 from 14 overs and all the other bowlers were economical but could not get the breakthrough we needed. Three of the youngsters had a bowl, with young George Clarke bowling 5 overs for 11 runs with his spin bowling. A disappointing result considering the position we put ourselves in, but we still improved our average points score.
