Match report The toss was important to win on a damp pitch and overcast conditions, and I lost it, so they put us in. We struggled on the slow pitch to really get going, although Pahi (27) and Kirwin (27) both looked comfortable until a silly run-out just before the drinks break left Pahi stranded. We lost a few wickets quickly but Jeff Hinds (33no) played well to get us to 126-9. This was never going to be enough but gave us something to bowl at. Harry Bell (1-19 from 6) bowled well and I managed to take a skier to give him a well deserved wicket. They looked to be cruising to a 9 wicket win but Jeff took a great caught and bowled to remove their skipper. We then had a 15 year old and a 13 year old at the crease, and the 13 year old was a player in my under 13 team in Max Baker-Smith. He should have been out first ball but Jack Mundell spilled a catch (extremely unusual for a normally fantastic fielder) and Max went on to make a good 20no. The two youngsters played well with the opener 58no (although he was dropped 3 times) and saw their team home for an 8 wicket win. A disappointing loss again for us, although against a side that should now win the league quite easily. We must pick up another two wins from our last 3 games to cement a top 4 finish.
