Match report 1st league match of the season and an excellent win. Reading won the toss and chose to bat. A first wicket partnership of 34 was looking good for them until Max bowled their opener in the 8th over. Adam Khan got the other opener in the next over. The 3rd wicket partnership produced 53 runs before Tom Chapman bowled their number 3 for 20. Callum Pearse then got 2 wickets in 2 balls to leave them on 91-5. They then reached 107 from 20 overs. We had bowled and fielded well. We batted and lost James Denton (8) when the score was 10. We were quickly 15-2 losing Callum Pearse for 5. Max and Connor then got going and a 36 run partnership, with Max free-scoring and Connor the anchor man put the game in our advantage. Connor (5) then got run-out, bringing James Mugford to the crease. After a nervy start him and Max produced a great partnership with Max getting his 30 before retiring. Matt Kilford (4no) and James got us to 104 after 16 overs before James (24no) hit a 4 off the first ball of the 17th over to give us a comfortable and very rewarding win. An excellent all-round team performance bodes well for the rest of the season. Keep it going boys!
