Match report On a very windy morning the Purley and Whitchurch Badgers played their debut league match at Whitchurch Cricket Club against Finchampstead Royals. Finchampstead batted first and posted a par score of 259 against some impressive bowling and fielding from our young Badgers side notably Joe Booker who chipped in with a wicket maiden and also a great first over from Nicholas Beckford bowling a maiden over.

The run chase got off to a disappointing start losing 2 wickets in the first over but soon picked up with the team being just one run behind with 2 overs left to play thanks to two lovely boundaries from newcomer James Brown. However it was not to be as two further wickets fell in the last 2 overs leaving us just 7 agonising runs short of victory.

All in all a great and encouraging performance from which to build.
