Match report The skipper won the toss and against all advice decided to have a bowl. The decision was vindicated by the second over as Vivek had the Pangbourne captain Neil Houldey caught at slip. Purley continued to get regular wickets and at one stage Pangbourne were deep in trouble at 65 for 6 but a good partnership saw them to a potentially challenging total of 130 for 7. Purley got off to the worst possible start by losing talisman Pete Rackley for 1. Luke Flory made a good impression in only his second innings in adult cricket with a quick 14 but was tempted by the slow bowling of Paul Smith and holed out to a juggling fielder at mid on. A hint of deja vu happened when it appeared Callum Wood was bowled, he stood his ground but after a consultation between the umpires it was deemed that the ball had indeed hit the stumps. Vivek Pandey's dismissal for 8 left Purley precariously positioned on 55 for 6 when in came Jordan Rowland to partner the experienced Andy Stephens and some big hitting by Jordan saw him to 37 not out and with Andy's steady defence and occasional fearsome drives they saw Purley home by 4 wickets and with 8 overs to spare. Well done lads!
