Hungerford v Purley on Thames CC Under 9 Panthers on Sun 03 Jul 2011 at 10am
Purley on Thames CC Won by 68 runs
Match report
The Kites made it four wins from four thanks to a convincing victory away at Hungerford.
Captain Austyn Jackson won the toss and decided to bat first and it proved to be a great decision, the opening pair of Mackenzie Raymond and Keiran Relf put on 30 runs thanks to great running and some big hitting from Raymond who continues to have an excellent season with the bat. And that was to set the tone for the inning with all partnerships contributing magnificently. We lost only three wickets on the way to a grand total of 324 with boundaries flowing throughout notably from Rushton, Jackson, Greenway, Danbury, Harlowe and Honeyman.
In reply Hungerford never got close to our total thanks to some excellent line and length bowling notably from opening bowlers Raymond and Jackson who bowled maidens at the top of the innings and later from Rushton whose first three balls of the match all yielded wickets (run out, bowled and caught behind).
Another good performance but again we still have some things to work on as we strive to improve. Well done Kites and a big thank you to all the parents who kindly travelled a long way on a lovely Sunday morning.
