Maidenhead&Bray v Purley on Thames CC Under 13s on Mon 27 Jun 2011 at 6.00pm
Purley on Thames CC Lost by 81 runs
Match report
We received a hammering!! We lost the toss and they chose to bat, and we bowled far too short, giving their opening batsmen too many "4" balls to hit, which they did. In the middle of the innings we slowed them down, once they had two retired for 30, but a late flurry of 21no from their number 9 batsman gave them a good score of 130-9. Two good catches from Connor and Callum were the only highlights of our bowling and fielding performance. We had to really bat well to stand a chance. James D was out second ball, and apart from strong resistance from Connor (13), the rest of the batting was very poor, especially the running between the wickets. 4 of our batsmen were run out, and all of them could easily have been prevented. We were bowled out for 49 to lose by 81 runs. I hope the boys learn from this performance, and "switch back on" for tomorrow's game against Slough.
