Match report
Congratulations Steve, Alison, all thelpers and the boys - a fantastic result - Well Done!
After a day of rain watching and palpitations we arrived at the ground to find the sun was out and the covers had done their job. Captain Charlie Wheeler lost the toss and we were asked to bat first. All partnerships yielded positive scores thanks to some sensible shots and fantastic running between the wickets, we eventually finished on 259 which we felt was just about a par score.
After the interval the Kites did what they do best, bowl line and length, we gave Henley very little in the way of bad balls and hardly any extras. Special mention to the wicket takers, Danbury, Fifield Jackson, Greenway, Kennedy, and Honeyman. The fielding was also superb, although perhaps the positioning was not what we have come to expect everybody showed 100% concentration and commitment with catches from Wheeler and Raymond (and a superb stumping) and a magnificent run out from Greenway towards the end of the innings. Special mention also to debutant Ben who arrived in the nick of time and did himself proud. All said it was a great team effort and I'm extremely proud of you all.
Thanks to everyone that has assisted me this week, Martin for help with the pitch and the covers, Will, Jeff and Jim for their coaching, Simon for umpiring, Nicky and Annie for helping with the drinks etc and Alison for scoring and all the parents for their support.
