Match report The Potters travelled to Chalfont St Peter on a overcast June day. Again the captain called incorrectly and Purley were put into the field. We started well with Caleb picking up an early wicket. Then disaster struck, Nick bowled the bowl which looped into the air and both Ash and Reebs went for the catch - Reebs came off much the worse, fracturing a bone in his hand which put him out of the rest of the game and probably on the sidelines for a few weeks. Luckily Lemar was there to come on as 12th man and he took 2 excellent catches which left Chalfont struggling at 50-4. Then there number 6 came in and blasted it to put Purley on the defensive. He made 87 and helped in them posting a challenging 186. Special mention to Caleb for his 6 wicket haul, excellent bowling!
The Potters started the pursuit of 186 knowing they only had 10 men and were missing one of the main batting stars. Cloughy went early LBW before Rackers and the skipper steadied the ship. Then the skipper was bowled after leaving a ball that cut back in. The introduction of the Chalfont spinners then caused a collapse to put us chasing the game. Big Al and Caleb contributed well to help us get up to 128 but we did not have enough to challenge the 186 posted.
Unfortunate defeat for the lads which wasn't helped by the injury but truthfully we should've done a lot better in chasing the total. Need to look to build more partnerships early on in order to win such games. Hopefully there will be an improved performance next week at home to Royal Ascot!!!!!
