Match report Table toppers Aldershot visited the Goosecroft for the lastest Division 3A match. Again wet weather hindered preparations, but fortunately the rain relented to allow play to proceed. The Potters skipper won the toss for a 2nd week running and he chose to bat.
It didn't start well with James going for a duck and Chris following soon after. The skipper and Lemar then put on 40 for the 3rd wicket but wickets soon tumbled to leave the Potters reeling. Good resistance from 1st team debutant Robbie Jeffrey, Rahu and Caleb boosted the total. We were bowled out in the 49th over for a total of 118.
There was persitent drizzle throughout the day meaning the wicket was not ideal for batting so the Potters knew early wickets would cause problems in the Shots ranks! Robbie picked up the 1st wicket early on and then excellent bowling from Caleb and Rahu reduced them to 7 wickets down with 90 not yet on the board. A stubborn 8th wicket partnership then saw the Shots close to the target. Caleb picked up another wicket to leave the Shots 8 down but unfortunately it was not enough.
6 points picked up - dissapointing considering the effort we put in. We showed great spirit to fight to the end and make the Shots work so hard for the win. Need to get back to winning ways next week away to Chiswick!
