Chiswick and Latymer v Purley on Thames CC Saturday 1st XI on Sat 23 Jun 2012 at 1300
Purley on Thames CC Lost by 5 wickets
Match report
The Potters travelled to Chiswick and Latymer for a 3rd vs 4th in the table match. It was another blustery day and another dampish wicket. The Potters skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. The boundaries at Chiswick were extremely short, especially straight back down the ground so a total of 200 plus was a necessity.
We started well with the skipper and Amit putting on 67 for 1st wicket. We then collapsed to 78 for 3 a few overs later leaving Alan and Lemar to rebuild things. They both played well, putting on 52 for the 4th wicket. Once Alan went for 25 we then collapsed again with Robbie and Ash going for 1st ball ducks (Malik picked up a hatrick). Another rebuilding job was done by Lemar and Rahu - 63 partnership for the 7th wicket. Some late order hitting from Dom helped boost the total, leaving us 227 all out from 51.5 overs. Special mention to Lemar who scored 72 - showed excellent temperament during his knock.
A stunning tea was had by all including chips, hot sausage rolls, fruit, a excellent selection of sandwiches and nice cakes.
We started well with the ball with Caleb and Robbie picking up an early wicket each. Some good bowling from Cyril then left them 4 down with about 100 on the board. A good 5th wicket partnership then took the game away from the Potters - on such a small ground it is very hard to set fields to restrict the scoring rate. We fought well but Chiswick reached the target with 9 balls to spare.
The Potters picked up 12 points which was not bad but again we are not performing well enough all round to win games. Next week we are back at the Goosecroft to play Hayes, lets pick up the performance and get a win!!!!!!
