Match report Purley 2nds slipped to a disappointing defeat in their opening league fixture away at Marlow 2nds.Purley lost the toss and were asked to bat and after losing skipper Peter Rackley with the score on 16 things went from bad to worse for Purley.Only a fine knock of 72 n/o from debutant Chris Priestley saved them from total disaster,his only real support came from youngster Robbie Jeffery(24) in a 6th wicket stand of 49.If Purley bowled well they still felt they were in with a chance of victory.But as with the batting it was a one man show with a superb bowling effort from Robbie Jeffery taking 4 for 36 from his 9 overs,unfortunately lacked support from his fellow bowlers.Not the best of starts,things can only get better.
