Match report What a game! I lost the toss again (might as well not bother tossing a coin anymore!) and they decided to bat. Excellent bowling, fielding and catching bowled them out for 154 in the 41st over. This meant we had 50 overs to get 155. They started with the old ball and two slow bowlers, and the top order capitulated. We were 10-5 after 6 overs. Rob Clarke (15) and Mridul (43) then put on a good 41 before Robert was bowled by a good ball. They were extremely vocal on the pitch, but the experienced Jeff Hinds came to the crease to calm it down. Calling Jeff a tail-ender probably wasn't a good move on their part. Mridul got caught for an excellent 43 and we were still 69-7. However, Tom Russell (28no) and Jeff batted superbly in a stand of 80 to take us to 149 before Jeff was lbw for an excellent 42. Vikram came in and with 2 required got bowled, and I thought we might be throwing it away again. In the next over though Tom hit a 2 to win the match by 1 wicket in the 45th over. I was extremely proud to captain a great team effort today against the most provocation on the pitch from an opposing team. We really showed what a great spirit we have in the team, and also some fantastic ability, from the two excellent youngsters right through to the old campaigners! I loved it!!
