Match report Why do the boys keep trying to give me a heart attack!! I suppose I don't help by losing the toss every week! Anyway, after losing the toss we were, not unexpectedly, put into bat. We lost two early wickets until 14 year old Max joined the skipper for his debut in the Sat 3rds. After a quiet start runs started flowing nicely until the skipper got caught off the worst ball he had faced for 34. Max was then run out from a direct hit for an excellent and patient 15. Wickets continued to fall regularly and we could only manage 98 all out. The mood was not too good at tea but we started well, with Harry (6-2-9-1) and Nufail (6-2-9-0) bowling a very tight spell. Rob Holman then came into the attack (his first Sat 3rds game this season) and took 3-6 from 6 overs, supported by 1-12 from Jeff, and two catches from Max. This had them in trouble, and we could sense a win was now on the cards. Max then bowled his first ball and it was a beauty that took out the off stump. This was the push we needed, as Max and Pahi (3-2-1-1) continued the pressure. Max finished with 4 wickets for 5 runs from his 3.5 overs, with 15 year old Rob Clarke taking two catches, the final one from Max's bowling. We bowled them out for 47, to win by 51 runs. This was a superb team effort, but special mention to Max Baker-Smith for his superb all-round performance on his debut for Sat 3rds. I am sure there will be many more from this talented youngster.
