Match report Purley 3rds are 1st Class. One way traffic could describe the proceedings following the decision of veteran Purley stalwart and Acting Captain – Jeff Hinds- to insert opponents WSL at the Ibis Sports Ground. Harry ‘Houdini’ Bell reduced WSL to 2 for 2 in the opening over of the match. The visitors would never recover from this nightmare of a start, losing wickets at regular intervals. A defiant 36 from the experienced Dan Owen looked like giving the score an air of respectability until he was sent packing by a googly from the Purley skipper. The rout was completed when Giles Collis was caught by James Denton off Pahi Selveratnam for 2, leaving the scoreboard showing 96 all out in just 27 overs. Purley made haste of the paltry total with a blistering if unorthodox 40 from Robert ‘The Goose’ Clarke ensuring a victory by 7 wickets and all of this before the Tea Interval.
