Match report The captain, Barry Carter finally won a toss and elected to field on a soft wicket at Mortimer. Bilal Hasan, one of seven players making their Sunday 2nds debut struck in his first over as he bowled J.Nicholls around his legs for 0. Youngster Robert Clarke finally got his deserved wicket when he had Paul Deer LBW for 10.James Mugford another of the debutants at the age of 14 fielded superbly at mid on and his fielding allowed George Clarke to continue his good start to the season with another three wickets and when fellow debutants Ashley Hillier and Nuffiel finished the tail-enders off, Mortimer were all out for 98 off 39.5 overs with Gary Burne the stand-in wicket keeper allowing just 1 leg bye. In reply Purley on Thames got off to the worst possible start as Nuffiel was run out without facing a ball and when Junees was caught and bowled by Loubser for 8 Purley were in real trouble at 22 for 3. James Mugford strode to the crease in a positive manner and batted extremely well to make 14 on his debut before he too was run out for 14. Sanjeev Sadhwani made his way to a steady 30 not out but it was Ashley Hiilier who scored the winning runs in fine style to end on 31 not out as Purley on Thames made it 101 for 4 after 29.2 overs.A fantastic performance by all the team and a well deserved victory.
