Purley on Thames CC Sunday XI v Knowl Hill on Sun 27 May 2012 at 2pm
Purley on Thames CC Won by 56 runs
Match report
Purley on Thames Sunday 2nds began their Millenium Sunday League campaign with a hard fought victory over Knowl Hill. After being inserted after losing the toss Purley quickly lost Sanjeev Sadhwani who was bowled for 5, Chris Rackley who was caught for 10 and skipper Pete Rackley to leave them at 40 for 3. Paul Reber and Andrew Clarke then put on 133 for the fourth wicket before Andrew was caught for an impressive 59. Paul Reber continued to bat superbly and fluently as he went onto complete a superb and chanceless 108 not out as he shared an unbroken stand of 71 in just 8 overs with Ashley Hillier who continued his good form since his return from injury as he reached 29 not out.
In reply Knowl Hill got off to the worst possible start as they lost Ian Millsom for 0 as he walked after snicking the ball to wicket-keeper Andrew Clarke off the bowling of Junees. Junees went onto pick up the next two wickets and when Robert Clarke and Barry Carter chipped in with a wicket a piece to leave Knowl Hill on 79 for 5 it looked all over. The Knowl Hill skipper Liam Duffy and his son Jordy had other ideas as they battered the ball around the Gosoecroft for 45 and 40 respectively the outcome of the match was in doubt but in the space of two overs they were both gone, Jordy to a catch at mid-wicket by Pete Rackley for 40 and Liam to the brother combination of Andrew and George Clarke.Rob Holman wrapped up the match as he bowled Harrison for 17 to leave Knowl Hill on 185 all out.
