Mortimer West End v Purley on Thames CC Sunday XI on Sun 15 Jul 2012 at 2pm
Purley on Thames CC Lost by 6 wickets
Match report
Purley on Thames travelled to Mortimer West End for a top of the table clash in the Millenium Sunday League. Although James Measham was skipper for the day it didn't change our toss winning luck. Mortimer WE elected to field on a damp wicket. Robbie Jeffery and James Measham put on a healthy stand of 51 for the first wicket but in no time at all Purley had slipped to 64 for 8. Despite some late order spirit by Robert Clarke(8), George Clarke (12) and Sam Woodhouse (2*), Purley were finally bowled out for 92 off 33 overs. In reply Mortimer WE got off to a sticky start as both openers were removed by some good bowling by Robbie Jeffery and Nufail but a 39 by Jamie Stead and 25 by Rohan Wijaratne steadied the ship and saw Mortimer West End home to a victory by six wickets. Mortimer West End now look favourites to depose current MSL champions Purley after this win.
