Match report After winning the toss in the previous two midweek matches, the Purley skipper reverted to form and lost the toss on a Sunday. Sulhamstead elected to bat and made a steady start before Max Baker-Smith enticed Dooley into a mis-hook and was caught at mid on by Robert Clarke for 13 and the score on 29. Purley quickly made that 60 for 3 with Robert Clarke bowling Wriggler and then running out Martin Booth. A.Briggs effortlessly made his way to a great 50 before he was caught by Jack Mundell at point off the bowling of Nufail for 58 with the score on 104. Purley then grabbed three quick wickets to reduce Sulhamstead to 110 for 6. Sulhamstead staged a recovery and although Robbie Jeffery had Tom Bradfield caught behind by Andrew Clarke, they eventually made a decent score of 166 for 8 off 40 overs. In reply Purley soon lost their youngster Robbie Jeffery as he was run out for only 4, that brought to the wicket even younger Max Baker-Smith and he soon made himself at home by hitting a couple of boundaries, Sanjeev Sadhwani was LBW to Wriggler for 7 and Purley were 33 for 2 when Pahi Selveratnam joined Max at the crease. Nearly and hour later Pahi was out for 55 and Max was still there on 64. Purley lost one more wicket but Max saw us home for a highest ever score of 75 not out as they totalled 170 for 4 off 22.1 overs to win by six wickets. A good performance all round but especially by the youngsters.
